K9GD-9
is an amateur radio mobile
station that broadcasts its current position via APRS
over amateur frequencies and the internet. This is accomplished by
using a GPS
receiver attached to a radio packet TNC which broadcasts GPS positions,
speed, altitude and direction over a 2 meter amateur frequency of 144.39MHz.
When this signal is broadcast, it is received by monitoring amateur radio
stations in the local area or distance locations via an amateur radion
HF link on 10.151MHz LSB. The packets are also received by certain
gateways to the internet, hence you ability to see where K9GD-9 mobile
is....IF the mobile is in operation. If the mobile IS NOT in operation
within the last 8 hours, the internet server will report an error.
Don't fret, check back often, K9GD-9 is moving often during late afternoon
hours.
